Bern Nix was an original, one-of-a-kind musician and human being. I was fortunate to be able to play music (I think exclusively in this duo format) with him for a while.

Fantastically successful, both as a tribute to Paul Bley and as a demonstration that there are still new things to be said in the piano trio format when the musicians are this good. I especially like their take on (Carla) Bley's Ida Lupino. It reminds me of Bley's approach to covers, where he'd restlessly circle around the melody before committing to it. arbitify
