I revised this recording (from 2005) a few years ago (maybe 2018) when my friend John Lindberg reminded me of the "Saturn Nebula" (vibes & piano duo) section of the piece (and I've since performed "Saturn Nebula" with several different (see YouTube) - but I wound up listening to the entire suite and loved it and thus the seed for BARKING HOOP ARCHIVE was planted.
A couple of points of interest: everyone her plays beautifully. The concept of the piece was to write a concerto like piece for pianist Angelica Sanchez and my band, at the time, KN's Bauhaus Quartet (me, John Lindberg, Tony Malaby and Dave Ballou) - Tony couldn't make this particular gig and my friend David Bindman stepped in and performed beautifully. Why Aquarius? I consider myself an Aquarian, working for a time of harmony, understanding, peace and love.

the artists seem to downplay their achievement as something they just tossed together in the living room during pandemic lock down. Yet, it is a highly original take on the classic drums/sax duo. A huge range of musical ground is covered, and emotional content. A great album in any context, I listen to it often. bob3
