Folk Medicine (for Joëlle)

from Kevin Norton: selected "chamber" compositions, VOLUME 1 by Kevin Norton

/

about

Composed in 2003 for the brass band (TILT), the piece is sort of a "get well card" to the extraordinary bassist and composer, Joëlle Léandre. I was a member of TILT www.tiltbrass.org from it's inception (2003) for about 6 years (?). The leader, Chris McIntyre, encouraged the members to compose for the group and "Folk Medicine" was one of mine, specifically for the group. The score is a hybrid of traditional and graphic notational methods and requires a conductor/prompter.
